If we have to believe the Quran, we have to believe that Islam existed since the ancient times of Abraham, that Jesus, who came 600 years before Islam, was actually a Muslim and preached not the religion that carries his name but preached Islam. After re-writing the history of Jewish religion and Christianity, Islam describes this as new knowledge and wants people to accept this new knowledge, even against their fathers will.•Scriptures would not have been necessary at all had the god truly had a contact with his creations and had continued with the same. Why the God did not dictate the Bible during his lifetime? Scriptures therefore appear to have been dictated by a god disconnected from the humanity. They therefore seem to be substitutes for the absent god.•Scriptures say truth needs to be proven. Hold fast, that is believe firmly, only that which is proven. This should be first applied to the scriptures themselves. Do they appear to be given by god? What should be expected from a god given scripture? The most essential expectations from a god given scripture would be divinity in its teachings.•A solitary omnipotent, omniscient, creator God of this magnificent universe, if he did exist at all, would never have the need to feel jealous. This kind of disposition would be alien to his nature. The Quran is full of phrases like “fear the Lord, fear me and me alone, fear Allah” etc. Literally, there are so many of such phrases in the Quran that the Quran can be safely described as a scripture of fear.•A true god given scripture should transcend barriers of region, religion and time. Compassion, affection, humanism for example, will be needed as long as humanity exists. This is also true of principles of justice and knowledge of nature contained in the scriptures. All scriptures, without any exception, fail on this count. Any time during the passage of time on this earth, a god should not say anything that gets superseded by human action or thought. God’s actions or thoughts then no longer remain divine. God’s sense of justice, morals and knowledge revealed by the scriptures are presently far inferior to these of modern humans.•Does the soul exist at all? Science has now clearly shown that all the functions that were attributed to the soul are in fact carried out by our brain and that something like the soul does not exist in our body. It is now realized and fully accepted that a person dies when his brain stops functioning, that is, when he is “brain dead”. Law does not allow an organ for transplantation to be removed from a body until that body is declared brain dead. Medical science does not wait to see if a soul has departed from the body. Soul was creation of ignorance- the soul does not exist.•Nations on75% of earth’s surface do not have any official religion. They follow secular law. The scriptures therefore stand rejected by most of humanity as any kind of guides for righteousness.
